Why community norms on a tight budget

Been thinking about this for a while and curious what the community thinks.

I tried three different approaches and none of them felt quite right.

There is a lot of conflicting advice online and most of it is from 2019. Posting this here because the relevant subreddit has gotten too noisy lately. I want to write something more comprehensive about this later but starting with a quick post to gather thoughts.

I tried this last year and it did not work for me — your mileage may vary. Counterpoint: it depends entirely on context.

This matches my experience exactly. Have you tried the alternative? It is roughly half the price and 80% as good. This matches my experience exactly.
